WHAT KIND OF BLOGGER ARE YOU?

I already wanted to write a post about being the blogger you want to be, but then I came across a few bloggers expressing how they felt they weren't good bloggers, or there wasn't enough going on in their life to blog and I decided I better speed up the process a bit.

The reason I started this blog was because my last blog wasn't me. Obviously I was the person behind the posts, but I was either forcing myself to post because of a challenge I was participating in or I was trying way to hard to do things like other bloggers. And that was the complete opposite of the reason I started blogging in the first place. I want to post because I have something to say, I want to post when I want, and I want to post how I want.

So here are a few things I've tried to stress to myself and would like to share with other bloggers. In list form of course, because I love list.

| You can blog ANYTHING. Although I throughly enjoy them, blogging shouldn't be strictly recipes and crafts. Blogging doesn't always have to be about the trip you took this past weekend, or all the things you did that week. Let's face it, there have been many days recently when I stayed in pajamas all day. Y'all don't want to hear about that, but I bet some kind of inspiration came from my TV or something I saw on the internet.

| Don't get too caught up in having lots of followers. Of course I would love a million people to follow me on bloglovin, but in reality how many of those people would actually be reading my blog? I want followers to enjoy reading what I write, and if that means only having 12 of them then so be it.

| Write because YOU want to. Challenges are great, but if you are forcing yourself to finish them, you don't belong in them. (Speaking from experience here people.) Don't feel like you have to post every single day or else your readers will hate you. Honestly, they probably won't even notice.

| Try to remember why you started blogging. And then turn it into a blog post. Two birds with one stone! Do you see what I did there? I started blogging because I love to write, and I love sharing things with people. The blogging community seemed so inviting and looked like so much fun.

| Be yourself. Cliche? Yes. But seriously, don't hold back. I obviously don't. If you are worried that people won't like you, then you are wrong. The blogging community is filled with so many different people and I guarantee you that quite a few of them appreciate your work. Don't read too much into anything, and enjoy yourself.

So what are some things you do to continue being the blogger you want to be? I can always use more advice to keep myself in check!

  1. Some great tips!! I often struggle on what I should blog about...but like you said above just be yourself and write about things you love! =) I'm so glad I found you in the blog world-looking forward to following you!

P.S. I've found when life gets to hectic it's best to take a break from the blog-world! I took a mini break over the summer.

  2. Love this girl. You make great points here just like you did on my blog.

I kind of feel as if I have this mold to fit into, like other people won't read if i'm not a cookie cutter blogger. But to hell with that, you're so right. People are more likely to read your blog if you're being YOURSELF, not just like every other blogger.

  4. Great post! I struggle with wanting to be a certain kind of blogger, but then that type of content just doesn't come naturally to me... I recently made the decision to blog what I want to blog as well, and I think it's going to make the whole process so much more fun!! Yay for being an individual!!
